The role

At Idneo we are looking for an Optical Engineer to join our team based in Viladecavalls to work as the responsible of the lens and any other optical component (cover glass,LED,..) that are integrated in the camera.


Your responsibilities

  • Meet the optical requirements agreed with customer and co-design and/or select the optical component in collaboration with the suppliers.
  • Agree with customer an overall component performance, taking into account optical, image and mechanical requirements that may affect the component in all the environmental conditions.
  • Assure that the lens achieves the level of quality that customer is requesting. Considering the
    performance at low, high and room temperature.
  • Be able to work in simulation environment as Speos.
  • Discuss with customer the different optical requirements and agree with customer the final KPIs and their thresholds, limits and values.
  • Assure an overall optical performance based on road test scenarios.
  • Define lens requirements (customer and internal ones) and design the validation plan for the lens
    suppliers. Make the follow up of these activities with the lens suppliers.
  • Support Recording team to assure all real scenarios are taken into account during road test.
  • Support Purchasing team to define lens suppliers panel.
  • Agree with the lens supplier the level of the pieces and delivery dates between supplier and
    our client.
  • Agree with project management (TPL, PM) the level of maturity of the pieces and delivery dates.
  • Test the optical performance of the lenses in the client facilities with the different samples maturity.
  • Design and customize optical setups for optical KPIs measurements used by the Optical team and
  • Testing team. Calibrate and maintain of the optical setups.
  • Evaluate in the laboratory the KPIs agreed with customer.
  • Evaluate in real scenarios the overall performance agreed with customer.

Job requirements

  • Fluent working with Matlab and with basic programming skills (C, C++, Python and/or scripting languages).
  • Notions of camera functionalities, digital video and image enhancement methods.
  • Passionate about photography and basic notions acquired as photo hobbyist.
  • Background in image processing and computer vision fields.
  • Experience in machine vision systems development using image processing and machine learning techniques is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge about Linux systems as end-user is desirable.
  • Experience in video acquisition devices configuration in Linux OS environment is desirable.
